All of the staff are dedicated to the art of folk fiddling and have a deep connection to The Calgary Fiddlers Association.

Nolana Baillargeon

Artistic Director, Calgary Fiddlers
& Executive Director

Fiddling has been a connective thread throughout Nolana's musical career. She began to learn the violin at the tender age of five, after being inspired by a strolling violinist who turned out to be the founder of a fiddler group called The Calgary Fiddlers.

A Graduate of The University of Western Ontario under the tutelage of Lorand Fenyves, Nolana has performed as soloist and concertmaster with the UWO Symphony Orchestra and the Contemporary Chamber Players of London, in addition to performing with several professional orchestras in Southern Ontario.

A former Calgary Fiddler herself, Nolana has been working with this extraordinary group of kids since 1997 as Artistic Director and Managing Director and has the pleasure of passing on her love of music to many talented young fiddlers.

Donna Turk

Artistic Director, Bow Valley Fiddlers

Donna lives and teaches in Calgary, Alberta. As a young violinist she was a student of the Academy of Music at Mount Royal College and played with the Calgary Youth Orchestra. She was also a member of the world renowned Calgary Fiddlers and this is where her love for fiddling began. The Calgary Fiddlers were a huge influence on her musically as well as for making lifetime friendships. After high school she attended the University of Western Ontario studying performance violin.

Donna has been teaching both fiddling and classical violin for 20 years. Since 1997, she has been the Artistic Director of the Bow Valley Fiddlers, the education program of the Calgary Fiddlers Association. There are currently 5 groups of Bow Valley Fiddlers ranging in age from 7 - 18yrs.

Donna's love of teaching and working with both children and adults are being recognized nationally. She has taught at workshops in Emma Lake and Kenosee Lake, SK, Abbotsford and Smithers, BC, Barrows, Norway House and Pine Creek, MB; summer and winter workshops for the Alberta Society of Fiddlers and the Foothills Acoustic Music Institute in Calgary. Most recently she enjoyed travelling to Yellowknife, NWT to teach workshops with the Aurora Fiddle Society.

Robyn Albright

Accompanist,
Bow Valley Fiddlers and Calgary Fiddlers

Robyn Albright was trained classically as a child on the piano. Although her love of music never waned, she decided to pursue a post-secondary career in the arts as a graphic designer. This is where she met her husband and together they opened a graphic design studio in Calgary.

As music became an important part of her four children's lives, both fiddle and piano, her own spark was renewed, and when the opportunity presented itself to become accompanist for The Calgary Fiddlers Association in 1997, she jumped at the chance. Robyn performs with both The Calgary Fiddlers and The Bow Valley Fiddlers.  All of her children have performed in some capacity with The Calgary Fiddlers Association.

"My love for children and music is such a big part of me...whether playing at a wedding or funeral, a violin recital, a senior's home, or for the Prime Minister; I feel music is my gift to give back to the community."
